Where what you walk on speaks volumes about what you believe in

A way to express that you’ve had enough of Ordinary in this lifetime

That you’ve taken control of the geometry that shapes your precious life. That you’re finally comfortable in the skin you’re in. And that your mindfulness for the needs of the planet are at the heart of your choices.

Conscious Material Curation & Creation

In a world where bold designs usually come at the cost of conscious materials, our conscience sets us apart. Here at Disobedience, we design with inherently circular materials - Indigenous Fabrics, Upcycled fabrics, wood & steel.

While it is important to be mindful of the resources Earth provides us with, it is equally important to be conscious of the life cycle of engineered materials and their impact on our ecosystem. So Conscious Material Curation and Creation rests at the very heart of where our journey with every pair begins.

The Architect of Disobedience

Anita Soundar

I was a chemical engineer. I was a second generation industrial entrepreneur. And then I decided I wasn’t.

I seemed to have an unshakable passion for two things - self expression and footwear design. And after thoughtful consideration, I decided it was time to invest my entire being into both of them. I studied footwear design from Italy to Netherlands to China, investing myself into understanding the entire spectrum from hand crafting to mass production. I experimented with various schools and philosophies of footwear design until I was ready to architect my own.

I experimented with various schools and philosophies of footwear design until I was ready to architect my own.

My background in environmental sciences opened my eyes to the pressing need for human lifestyles shaped by mindful practices. Through this, I became drawn to the concept of creating a paradigm for footwear shaped by natural materials - fabric, wood & metal. I immersed myself in the art of weaving, learning the ins and outs of a loom by heart, and by hand.

I grew a deep interest in woodworking and carpentry, and my industrial background found a whole new purpose as I used it to design my signature steel and wood heels. It’s been a long road to get here, but every step of the way has been filled with purpose.

And finally, here we are

Disobediently yours,
